Where to stay in Sukko

About Sukko

Overlooking the Black Sea between Anapa and Novorossiysk, Sukko is a small resort town in Russia’s Krasnodar Krai region. It lies in a picturesque valley of the Sukko River, blanketed in beech, pine and juniper and framed by the rugged spurs of the Markotkh Range.

Things to do

Sukko’s main attraction is its scenic lake, which is fringed by a protected area of swamp cypresses. It’s a particularly popular destination in the autumn months when the changing leaves are at their most spectacular. You can relax on the lakeshore while enjoying the views or cast a fishing line to lure several varieties of carp that inhabit the waters.

A short stroll from the lake is the Braveheart Adventure Park, a family-friendly attraction that features a ropes course, a trampoline and a paintball net. There are several gazebos where parents can relax while the kids take advantage of the drawing table. Also nearby is a horse stable that offers guided horse riding tours through the lakeside forest.

Sukko can also be used as a base for visiting Anapa, a lively seaside resort that’s home to several fine sandy beaches. Delve into the past at the National History Museum and admire the turquoise Church of St. Onuphrius before exploring the archaeological site of Gorgippia, a large polis (city-state) that flourished at the beginning of the 4th century B.C.

Getting around

Sukko is around three hours’ drive from Krasnodar and Krasnodar International Airport, which has flights to destinations across Europe. Anapa is 20 minutes away. Having your own vehicle is the most convenient way of accessing Sukko and exploring the surrounding region.
