About Baltic Sea

Germany’s Baltic Sea Coast stretches for almost 2,500 kilometres and is dotted with charming towns, villages and resorts. The region is known as the German Riviera and is a haven for summer sunseekers. In the port town of Warnemünde, handsome seaside hotels overlook a gleaming white sand beach.

Ahlbeck is another historic resort town, fringed by a long sandy beach and a breezy promenade lined with turn-of-the-century villas. For a more relaxed vibe, escape to lesser-known resorts such as Timmendorfer Strand, Strandbek and Zingst. Just offshore, the UNESCO-protected island of Rugen will enchant you with its soaring white chalk cliffs and lush beech forests.

Bustling Kiel has a livelier feel and is anchored by a picturesque Old Town. Enjoy classical music concerts at beautifully restored St. Nikolai Church and browse boutiques along bustling Dänische Strasse. The excellent Maritime Museum occupies a former fishing warehouse and is filled with model ships and maritime artefacts.

Getting there

Baltic Sea Coast is located in northern Germany. Rostock is the largest city in the region and is a three-hour drive from Berlin and two hours from Hamburg. Rostock-Laage Airport is serviced by domestic flights. Most towns, villages and resorts on the Baltic Sea Coast are well-connected by road and rail.
