About Agua Verde

With leafy parks, shopping strips and one of Curitiba’s most popular social clubs, Agua Verde is a relaxed residential neighbourhood. It was named for a body of green water which once cut through its agricultural farmlands and has since become a popular area for Japanese immigrants to settle.

Things to do in Agua Verde

Follow the walking trails of Japan Square to explore cherry blossom trees, tranquil ponds and traditional tea houses. For a dose of history, head south to admire the architecture of Clube Curitibano’s illustrious Concord building that dates back 150 years.

Agua Verde’s main commercial hub stretches along Rua Chile in the neighbourhood’s west where international fast food restaurants compete with local establishments, while there’s another cluster of restaurants along Avenida Iguaçu to the north.

If you need to satisfy your shopping cravings, then head to Agua Verde’s Daju department store. From fashion to home wares and electronics, you’ll find a little bit of everything here.

Want to feel the buzz of Brazilian soccer? Then take in a match at the 43,000-capacity Estádio Joaquim Américo Guimarães, home to Curitiba’s Atletico Paranaense. This Agua Verde stadium was built in 1914 and has been recently renovated to host games during the 2014 FIFA World Cup.

Getting around Agua Verde

Agua Verde is well connected by bus to Curitiba’s Centro area, as well as the surrounding neighbourhoods of Batel, Portão, Vila Izabel and Rebouças. If you’re flying into Curitiba, then it’s around 30 minutes’drive from Aeroporto Afonso Pena that lies to the south.
