German for baths, Baden is a stunning Swiss spa town that’s been enchanting holidaymakers since the Roman era. Baden enjoys a picturesque location in the Limmat Valley and a stunning forested backdrop. The old town village is listed as a Swiss Heritage Site and is peppered with beautifully restored buildings. Stroll around the Bathing Quarter, admire the 13th century wooden bridge and explore the historic museum at Bailiff’s Castle. The spa town is perched on the banks of the Limmat River, which flows down from Lake Zürich. It sits 25 kilometres north-west of Zürich, which makes it an easy day trip. Baden is serviced by its own railway station, conveniently located in the heart of the town centre. A pedestrianised shopping street and scenic riverside walkways make Baden a wonderful place to explore on foot. The closest airport is Zurich-Kloten, located 35 minutes from the Baden town centre.

Beyond hot springs, Baden is also famous for its mouth-watering Spanisch Brötli. Loved by locals for centuries, the traditional delicacy consists of a feather light, flaky pastry filled with crushed roasted hazelnuts and a lick of apricot jam.
