About Baselga di Pinè

Positioned on the shores of Lago della Serraia, Baselga di Pine is a bustling economic and cultural hub on the Trento Plateau. It is surrounded by picturesque meadows and wildlife-filled woodlands and on the doorstep of one of Trentino’s most important Catholic pilgrimage sites.

Things to do in Baselga di Pinè

In the heart of Baselga di Pine is the Church of Santa Maria Assunta Nuova, which was constructed in the early 20th century on a design by Natale Tommasi. It features a monumental porch and a circular bell tower, as well as a lunette that’s beautifully decorated with mosaics. Step inside to see the frescoes by Duilio Corompai and the organ crafted by the Cuvio-based Mascioni company.

A short drive south of Baselga di Pine is the Sanctuary of the Madonna di Pine pilgrimage site. According to tradition, the Madonna appeared to a shepherd girl here in 1729 and the Baroque-style Church of St. Anna was built in response. Admire the painting by Francesco Unterpergher di Cavalese that decorates the interior before marvelling at the Neo-Renaissance Monument to the Redeemer.

On the northern edge of Baselga di Pine is the sparkling Lago della Serraia, a peaceful lake that provides a popular setting for walking and swimming in the summer months. There are several bathing spots dotted along its shores, as well as benches for watching the local ducks coming and going. In the winter months, the Lago della Serraia freezes over and becomes a magnificent ice skating rink.
