About Brønderslev

Named after a local Norse chief, Brønderslev is a former farming village that flourished with the arrival of the railway in 1871. It has since become an important trade and industrial hub and lies on the edge of a large bog where archaeological findings dating back to the Iron Age have been discovered.

Seasonal floral displays are a highlight of the Hedelund Rhododendron Park, which is home to one of the largest collections of rhododendrons in Europe. Between May and June, more than 130 varieties bloom to create an explosion of colour. Stroll beneath the 100-year-old beech trees and enjoy a picnic beside the duck-filled lake, which is spanned by a photogenic, white bridge.

On the northern outskirts of Brønderslev is Nygårdsminde Vingård, a charming winery that offers guided tours and wine tastings. Learn about the establishment of Denmark’s northernmost commercial vineyard as you tour the property, which includes landscaped flower beds, an orchard and a kitchen garden. Alongside is a park golf course that is designed for adults and kids alike.

More serious golfers can enjoy a round at the Brønderslev Golf Club, which is one of the oldest of its kind in North Jutland. It features 27 holes that offer sweeping views across the countryside of Vendsyssel, as well as a modern clubhouse where meals and drinks are served. Just a few steps away are the club’s practice facilities, which include a driving range and a putting green.
