About Gressoney-La-Trinité

Nestled at the foot of Monte Rosa, Gressoney-La-Trinite is a charming alpine town in Northwest Italy. It’s home to one of the most scenic ski resorts in the Aosta Valley and swells in population during the winter months, while it also provides a base for hikers in the summertime.

Things to do in Gressoney-La-Trinité

If you’re visiting in the winter months, you can hit the slopes of Monte Rosa Ski, which can be accessed by chair lifts from Gressoney-La-Trinite. Set across three valleys and backed by the Monte Rosa Massif, the ski resort is considered one of the best in Italy. In addition to its 180 kilometres of ski trails, it boasts extensive freeride and backcountry terrain to explore.

A short walk from the centre of Gressoney-Saint-Jean is Lake Gover, which provides a setting for ice skating in the winter months and trout fishing in the summer. Hiking trails wind through the adjacent valley of Valsesia and connect to photogenic Laghi Tailly, a breathtakingly beautiful alpine lake set amidst dramatic scenery.

A short drive south of Gressoney-La-Trinite is Castel Savoia, a fairytale-like manor house that dates from the turn of the 20th century. It was designed by architect Emilio Stramucci at the request of Queen Margherita and offers majestic views of the Monte Rosa peaks. Marvel at the castle’s five towers and explore its elegant interior before learning about alpine vegetation in the rock garden.

Getting around Gressoney-La-Trinité

Gressoney-La-Trinite is around 2.5 hours’ drive from the centre of Milan and two hours from Malpensa Airport, which has flights to destinations across the globe. Renting a car is the most convenient way of getting to the town and exploring the surrounding region. Chair lifts connect to the surrounding ski slopes.
