About Gwadar

The port city of Gwadar is located on the shores of the Arabian Sea in southern Pakistan. Made up of two semi-circular bays either side of the peninsula, the former fishing village has strong Arabic influences from the Omani era.

Things to do in Gwadar

For a unique view of the city, head to Gwadar Port. Located at the crossroads of the Middle East, Central Asia and Southern Pakistan, the port is one of Gwadar's biggest cultural draws and offers great views out over the Arabian Sea.

A five-hour drive west along the coastal highway takes you to Hingol National Park. The park is the largest of its kind in Pakistan and is home to the natural underground Hingol River and the Princess of Hope rock formation.

If you’re heading to Hingol National Park, take the Buzzi Pass, a stretch of road famous for its twisting turns and sharp bends. Stop off at the Sphinx monument en route, which is a naturally carved statue set back off the road.

After a little adventure? Head to Kund Malir beach for a desert safari. This peaceful beach sits on the coastal road and is so remote you won’t find any hotels, restaurants or phone service, so you’ll feel completely separated from the rest of the world.

Getting around Gwadar

Gwadar International Airport is 15 minutes north of Gwadar. Alternatively, take the eight-hour scenic drive from Karachi Airport through Hingol National Park and wind your way west to Gwadar. The city itself can be explored by making use of the local buses and taxis.
