Perched on the south-east coast of Corfu, Kavos has been a popular seaside getaway since the end of World War II. Its beachside strip is lined with restaurants, shops and bars that stay open until the early hours, as well as water sports operators offering jet ski rentals, inflatable rides and parasailing.
Spend your days relaxing on Paralia Kavos, a lively stretch of sand that’s ideal for sunbathing and swimming. For a quieter beach, make the short drive to Arkoudilas, a cliff-backed cove that can be accessed along a forested hiking trail.
Combine your visit to Arkoudilas with a stop at the ruined Monastery of Panagia Arkoudila, which was home to several monks until the 19th century. Wander between its crumbling walls and arched entranceways while soaking up the magnificent views across the Ionian Sea.
Getting there
Kavos is just 10 minutes’ drive from the Port of Lefkimmi where ferries connect to Ladochiri on mainland Greece. Corfu Airport Ioannis Kapodistrias is a one-hour drive from the village and has seasonal flights to destinations across Europe. Renting a car is the most convenient way of getting to Kavos and the village is small enough to explore on foot.
