About Masfut

Perched on the Omani border, Masfut is a scenic village in the Hajar Mountains with a cool climate and beautiful mountain scenery. There are plenty of opportunities to connect with nature, from scenic hikes around Hatta Dam to enthralling overnight desert safaris.

Things to do

For a glimpse at Emirati culture, don't miss exploring the Hatta Heritage Village. It's just minutes from Masfut, filled with traditional stone houses and "barasti" palm-leaf huts that house a fascinating collection of Bedouin weapons, folk costumes, instruments and jewellery.

Perched high in the Hajar Mountains, Hatta Dam boasts some of the UAE's best views. Head up to the Hatta Reservoir Visitor Point for sweeping vistas over the emerald water. Keep an eye out for ultra-rare Arabian sand cats prowling by the water's edge.

Thanks to its secluded setting, Masfut is a great base for outdoor excursions. Mountain biking is one of the region's most popular activities, with a network of trails winding their way through the Hajar Mountains and the Hatta Dam area.

From camel rides and falconry displays to dune-bashing and stargazing, desert safaris are a quintessential way to experience the Arabian Desert. Overnight trips often include traditional barbecue dinners and a glimpse at authentic cultural traditions.

Getting around

Masfut sits in the Emirate of Ajman, around one hour from Fujairah City and 90 minutes from Ajman City. The easiest way to get around is with a rental car or by hiring a private driver. Taxis and local buses also run between Masfut and Hatta.
