Magnificent Nissi Beach graces postcards across Cyprus. It’s set on a sheltered bay and features gleaming white sand and shimmering cerulean water. The beach wraps around the bay and is dotted with sunbeds and umbrellas. Relax in the Mediterranean sunshine and cool off in the translucent water.
A shallow sandbar connects Nissi Beach with an islet just offshore. At low tide, you can walk across the sandbar and explore the tiny island. Alternatively, rent a kayak and paddle out onto the bay. From the water, you can enjoy spectacular views of the palm-lined coast.
Cafes, restaurants and beach bars overlook the bay and serve dishes like “koupepia” stuffed vine leaves and fried halloumi cheese drizzled with lemon juice. Seafood lovers can indulge in platters loaded with oysters, mussels, lobster and shrimp.
The neighbouring resort of Ayia Napa is popular with partygoers. It has a Spring Break vibe, with parties starting at midday and continuing well into the night. Sip cocktails with your feet in the sand and dance the night away to sets by international DJs.
Getting there
Nissi Beach on Cyprus Island, a 10-minute drive from Ayia Napa, 40 minutes from Larnaca and two hours from Paphos. Taxis are a fast and affordable way to get around or you can rent a car. Larnaca International Airport is a 45-minute drive away.
