Overlooking the water in the heart of Nordfjordeid is the Sagastad, a fascinating museum that brings the region’s Viking past to life through interactive installations. Nordfjordeid makes an ideal base for visiting Jostedalsbreen National Park, which is home to the largest glacier in mainland Europe. Closer to the village are several hiking routes that offer sweeping views across the sprawling Nordfjorden.

Nordfjordeid is around 2.5 hours’ drive from Alesund and Alesund Airport, which has flights to destinations across Europe. Buses connect Nordfjordeid to towns and villages across the region while the centre is compact enough to explore on foot.
