About Noresund

Straddling both the eastern and western shore of Lake Krøderen, Noresund is a charming village whose name translates as “strait strait”. It is famously associated with an oak tree known as “The Old Master”, which inspired the poetry of Norwegian folklorist Jørgen Moe.

On the southern edge of Noresund is the Olberg Kirke, a whitewashed cruciform church constructed in 1859 on the designs of Gustav Adolph Lammers. In addition to beautiful stained glass windows crafted by Emanuel Vigeland, it houses a 17th-century pulpit and a Baroque baptismal font saved from the church that previously stood at the site.

Nearby is the Postkassetur - Bukkåsen hiking area, which offers magnificent views across Lake Krøderen. Keen golfers can head north for a round on the 18-hole Norefjell Golfklubb while skiers of all abilities can take advantage of the 30 downhill runs at the Norefjell Ski Resort.

Getting there

Noresund is a 40-minute drive from Hønefoss and 1.5 hours from Oslo while Oslo Airport is just under two hours away. Buses connect Noresund to towns and villages across the region and the centre of Noresund is small enough to explore on foot.
