About Prospect Heights

Located in the north-west of Chicago, Prospect Heights is a largely residential suburb on the doorstep of Lake Arlington. It’s home to recreational parks where you can walk, play and fish, as well as the nine-hole Rob Roy Golf Course and its family-friendly miniature golf course.

Things to do in Prospect Heights

In the heart of Prospect Heights is Izaak Walton Park, a scenic green space that features wildlife-filled wetlands, landscaped garden beds and a large picnic shelter. It’s named after the English author of “The Compleat Angler”, which celebrates the art and spirit of fishing. A short nature trail winds its way through the park and along the shores of its lake.

Set across 20 hectares is the nine-hole Rob Roy Golf Course, which features tree-lined fairways and several water features to negotiate. Adjacent is the Woodland Trails Driving Range where you can develop your long-game swing or take advantage of the short-range practice facilities. The complex also includes a miniature golf course that kids will love and a clubhouse with a bar and grill.

Prospect Heights is an ideal base for visiting Lake Arlington, a man-made recreational destination that was created as a stormwater detention basin in 1985. Today, it provides a setting for fishing, walking and cycling and boasts two children’s playgrounds and a boat dock. You can rent a paddleboat or sailboat to explore Lake Arlington at your leisure while keeping your eyes peeled for great blue herons, barn swallows and Canada geese.

Getting around Prospect Heights
