Flanders Fields is a history museum filled with World War I exhibits, including educational videos, roleplay simulations and interactive stations. When you enter you'll be issued with a microchip "Poppy Bracelet" that helps guide you around the museum.

Set on the Grote Markt, Lakenhalle is the city's signature building. The medieval cloth market and warehouse is topped by a 70-metre-tall belfry that watches over the city. While it was once used as a lookout for fires and invaders, today you can climb the stairs for sweeping views over Ypres.

Every evening at 8pm traffic stops in its tracks for the Last Post bugle call. The ritual has been running since 1928 and is carried out in remembrance of those who died in World War I. Buglers play the call at Menin Gate and are often accompanied by cadets, pipers and military bands.

Kids will love Park Bellewaerde, a high-octane amusement park just a stone's throw away from the city centre. You can ride log flumes, watch 4D movies, be amazed by stunt shows and get face to face with over 300 exotic animals.
