Start your Bexhill-on-Sea holiday at the Grade I-listed De La Warr Pavilion, which overlooks the English Channel and boasts an Art Deco architectural design. It’s now a contemporary arts centre, where you can admire a range of paintings, sculptures and other creations by famous British and international artists. Afterwards, visit the Bexhill Museum to explore the local history through race car, vintage fashion and natural exhibits.

The museum is right next to Egerton Park, a sprawling central greenscape with tennis courts, lawn bowls, an outdoor gym, picnic areas, playground and on-site cafe. Nature lovers should also drive along the coast to Cooden Beach, which has a promenade and long stretches of sand during low tide.

Stroll down the main strip of Devonshire Road to discover a wealth of boutiques and fine-dining restaurants. You’ll need to venture slightly inland to find the 15th-century Herstmonceux Castle, which features restored medieval architecture and immaculate royal gardens. It’s near the family-friendly Observatory Science Centre, where you can attend science workshops and partake in interactive displays, including using the giant telescope in the centre’s observatory.
