About Gyeongsan

Forming part of the Daegu metropolitan area, Gyeongsan is a bustling satellite city in the South Korean province of Gyeongsang. It is home to several universities, a cultural museum, and a baseball stadium that hosts games in the professional KBO League. Gyeongsan is renowned for its magnolia trees, which ignite the city in early spring.

Things to do in Gyeongsan

If you’re interested in the local history, visit the Gyeongsan Municipal Museum, which showcases archaeological and cultural findings from prehistoric times to the modern day. It features a dedicated children’s area to keep young visitors entertained, as well as outdoor sculptural exhibits. The Gyeongsan Municipal Museum lies within a small park surrounded by eateries serving Korean, Japanese and Vietnamese cuisine.

Golfers can practice their swing at the Inter-Burgo Gyeongsan Country Club, which was established in 1994. In addition to its 9-hole course, it features a practice green and driving range, plus a well-stocked pro shop. Adjacent to the Inter-Burgo Gyeongsan Country Club is Daegu Haany University, which specialises in the study of traditional Asian medicines.

Baseball fans can coincide their visit with a game at Daegu Samsung Lions Park, which serves as the home stadium of the Samsung Lions in the KBO League. It opened to fans in 2016 and has the capacity to seat up to 24,000 spectators. Located within the stadium are several concessions where you can grab drinks and snacks during the game, including Papa Johns, BBQ Chicken and D First.

Getting around Gyeongsan

Gyeongsan is around 1.5 hours by bus and train from Daegu and Daegu International Airport, which has flights to destinations across Asia. Busan is three hours away. Regular trains connect to the Gyeongsan railway station and buses travel throughout the city, connecting most of its attractions.
