About Milton, ON

Perched on the edge of the Niagara Escarpment, Milton is one of the fastest growing towns in Canada. It’s within easy access of the long-distance Bruce Trail and a working railway museum, as well as conservation areas where you can hike, kayak and rock climb.

Things to do in Milton

Visit the photogenic ruins of the Rockwood Woolen Mill, a mid-19th-century landmark within the Rockwood Conservation Area. Follow one of the trails to explore the park’s unique geological features, including glacier buffs, potholes and one of the most extensive cave systems in Ontario.

Discover the local transport history at the Halton County Radial Railway, a working museum filled with vintage railway vehicles, electric streetcars and trolley buses. Wander through the display barns and ride along part of the Toronto Suburban Railway’s scenic track, which includes a stop at the railway’s famous ice-cream shop.

Escape to the natural surrounds of the Kelso Conservation Area, which centres around a sprawling lake where you can kayak, paddleboat and canoe. Explore the extensive mountain biking and hiking trails or visit during winter when snow coverage turns the park into a winter wonderland for downhill skiing, snowboarding and tubing.

Hike part of the 890-kilometre-long Bruce Trail through the Rattlesnake Point Conservation Area, which is named after the snake-like pathways carved through its landscape by glaciers. Soak up the impressive views across the UNESCO World Biosphere Reserve of the Niagara Escarpment or rock climb up the park’s soaring limestone cliffs.
