About Tokyo Disney Resort

Tokyo Disney Resort is the world's third most-visited theme park complex and is located 15 minutes by train from Tokyo Station. The complex comprises of two theme parks, a huge shopping and dining area, plus a series of Disney and non-Disney hotels. The resort is primarily geared towards Japanese and East Asian visitors, although English-speaking staff are widely available.

The full cast of Disney characters are found here, although Western visitors might find it peculiar to hear Goofy or Mickey Mouse speaking in Japanese and Mandarin. These roam around the themed areas of Tokyo Disneyland: Adventureland, Westernland, Fantasyland and Tomorrowland. Roller coasters and child-focused rides are dotted across the theme park, many of them based on attractions at Florida's Walt Disney World and California's Disneyland Resort.

Tokyo DisneySea is exclusive to Japan and features a Mysterious Island, Mediterranean Harbor, Mermaid Lagoon, and the Aladdin-inspired Arabian Coast. Various themed ships lull in the waters and water-based rides take visitors through lagoons, caves, and whirlpools.

Ikspirai is Tokyo Disney Resort's main shopping and dining complex. A monorail connects the three areas of the resort but is not included in the resort entrance ticket.

From Toyko Station, the resort is 15 minutes by train on the JR Keiyo or JR Musashino line. Alight at Maihama and it's a five-minute walk to the main entrance. There are direct buses from other major Tokyo stations, like Shinjuku and Shinagawa. However, it's quicker to go by rail and change at Tokyo Station.

This was the first Disney theme park to open outside the U. S. and it's been a huge hit with the locals. Within the first ten years the resort had received more visitors than Japan's total population.
