The Tokyo Skytree Tower is the heart of the Tokyo Skytree Town in the Sumida City Ward in Tokyo, Japan. The impressive structure is the tallest tower in the country, boasting a height of 634 metres. This television and broadcasting hub is also a popular tourist destination and an important cultural landmark for all of Tokyo.
The tower’s highlight attractions are two observation decks located at 350 and 450 metres in height, Tembo Deck being the lower of the two offering impressive panoramic views throughout three expansive floors. Tembo Deck also contains a souvenir shop and the Musashi Sky restaurant. The Tembo Gallery serves as the prominent upper deck providing even more alluring views of the city sprawling out below. There is also a shopping complex and a planetarium located at the base of the tower.
The Tokyo Skytree Tower is accessible from the fourth floor of the Tokyo Skytree Town which encompasses the area between the Tokyo Skytree subway station and the Oshiage subway station. From Aruska, it is a 20 minutes’ walk to the destination. Buses along multiple lines route directly from the Tokyo Station to the Skytree complex.
The Skytree Tower was constructed in recognition of three primary concepts that embraced neo-futuristic design, cultural representation and a means for disaster prevention. The building boasts seismic proofing, which reduces its sensitivity to earthquake damage.
