About Bukit Timah

Nestled between some of Singapore’s most popular nature reserves and gardens, Bukit Timah combines fascinating native wildlife with bustling markets and a prestigious golf course. Bukit Timah is also a popular destination for shopping, recreational sport and picturesque reservoirs.

Things to do in Bukit Timah

Singapore’s flora and fauna are on show at Bukit Timah Nature Reserve, which features some of the country’s last remaining natural rainforest, hiking and cycling trails, rock climbing areas and about 800 species of flowering plants. On the opposite side of Bukit Timah is the World Heritage-listed Singapore Botanic Gardens, where you can wander through 74 hectares of vibrant themed gardens, native birds and a swan lake.

Combine nature with history by strolling along the 26-kilometre-long Green Corridor, which incorporates parts of the old Bukit Timah Railway Station tracks that once connected Singapore to Malaysia. Get a bird’s-eye view over the trees at the TreeTop Walk, a free-standing suspension bridge that transports you over trees housing monkeys and macaques. It’s reached via numerous hiking trails in MacRitchie Reservoir Park.

Head to PasarBella Farmer’s Market, where international food traders and avid foodies indulge in cuisines from around the globe. You can find authentic Italian and French delicacies, homemade pastries, artisan jams and craft beers. If you’d prefer to be in the kitchen, join a ToTT cooking class to learn how to make authentic Thai, Peranakan or Singaporean food.

Don’t forget to venture about 15 kilometres east of Bukit Timah to experience the enthralling interactive winter exhibits and 60-metre-long indoor sledding slope at Snow City. It’s next to the family-friendly Science Centre, which features fun and educational science-based exhibits.

Getting around Bukit Timah

Bukit Timah is serviced by multiple MRT stations on the Downtown and Circle lines, along with numerous public bus terminals. You can also catch taxis or hire a vehicle to get around.
