About Sembawang

The town of Sembawang occupies Singapore’s northernmost point, overlooking Malaysia across the scenic Denman Shoals. Along with Singapore’s only natural hot spring, Sembawang offers a range of tranquil parklands, rich naval and military history and a large shopping mall encircled by churches and temples.

Things to do in Sembawang

Sembawang is one of the best places in Singapore to seek peace and relaxation, especially while you soak weary muscles in the hot, mineral-rich waters of the Sembawang Hot Spring, discovered in 1909. Afterwards, head to Canberra Park to enjoy scenic walking trails, a children’s playground and lush native flora. You can also stroll along the Sembawang River and see locals fishing by the water’s edge.

Are you in the mood for some shopping? Get your retail fix at Sembawang Shopping Centre, which features numerous stores, including Cotton On, Esprit, Daiso, Pet Lovers Centre and Popular Bookstore. Refuel with Thai specialties at Central Thai Express Cafe or enjoy authentic Bak Kut Teh at New Manlee Bak Kut Teh.

If you feel like hanging out by the water, head to the 15-hectare Sembawang Park, which is one of the few Singapore parks with a natural beach. This popular fishing spot is also perfect for swimming, jogging or seaside barbecues. Restored pathways used during Singapore’s British occupation and the historic Beaulieu House showcase the country’s naval heritage.

Don’t forget to snap a picture with the Sembawang God of Wealth, a revered place of worship by the Sembawang River. Get out and about with a round of golf at the 18-hole Sembawang Country Club, which also has a swimming pool, Mahjong room and driving range.
